After our amazing visit to the Ojai Green Home & Building Tour where we learned everything about permaculture and aquaponics, we had to get back to work. And by “get back to work” I really mean “enjoy another BBBBq“!
Last week I had some family from France visiting, so substituted Beer for Wine – hence the change to BWBBq. It was time to correct that!
But before we could fix our mouthful of an acronym, we installed some rafters. Anmol and Gabe showed up to help and Jenna finally got to do more building than cooking! Well that was until she decided to start grilling chicken, shrimp skewers and artichokes while making a fruit salad (impressive for someone who’s never grilled before this project!).
She also decided to bake cookies for the neighbors as a thank you for withstanding our daily hammering. And it is with great pride that I can say: at least half the cookies actually made it to the neighbors!
Anyhow, we got quite a bit done Sunday. First, Jenna and Anmol installed some of the hurricane clips. They then cut all the rafters to size while Gabe and I reinforced the ridge beam.
Gabe cut out all the bird-mouths in the rafters and helped me install them.
The day ended with the delicious meal described earlier.
By the way, if you missed it, make sure you listen to our discussion with Tiny r(E)volution and Life In 120 Square Feet. You’ll hear the story behind the below picture I snapped of Jenna.
