While in Maryland, we were lucky enough to see a whimsical tiny house and meet its lovely owner, Bernadette! This house looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale, so get ready to fall in love.

The Pinafore was built for Bernadette by Abel of Zyl Vardos. Abel is as imaginative as he is meticulous with his craftsmanship. He’s known for his innovative and whimsical tiny house designs. Abel is famous for curved roofs, high-quality materials, intricate trim and his signature circular “moon window” (seen below).
Bernadette wanted something unique, so Abel sketched her an original “gothic, european, whimsical” tiny house design. And so, The Pinafore was born. Isn’t she a beauty?
Of course, one of my favorite things about The Pinafore tour is Bernadette’s mini Australian Shepherd named Alice. I also like the moon window…and the door… and the spacious loft… oh, and her tiny purple studio!! There’s just too much to love in this tiny space.
Although Bernadette has more storage than most tiny housers, she also mentioned that she tries not to over clutter her space. We do the same in our tiny house. Recently we came across a great way to declutter and recycle at the same time! Art, from another tiny house tour we did recently, told us about it. Have you heard of yerdle.com? We give our unwanted belongings to someone who will actually use them, and by doing so we earn “Yerdle dollars.” Then, when we need something new, we shop on Yerdle! It’s a great way to repurpose perfectly good belongings that go to waste by sitting idle and causing clutter. Plus I love that I don’t have to dip into my bank account to get something new!
The worst thing about the Pinafore is I live in Australia and therefore can’t purchase one myself. Beautiful design and execution, well done!
I like everything about the Pinafore. Well designed, beautifully done. The living room area is particularly inviting. Those windows!
I will pray for the health of both of you. Glad your dog didn’t catch it. OK, so how about claustrophobia? I love what you’re doing, I have a problem in small spaces. Is the fact that you are on the road seeing all kinds of scenery, able to exit the truck for stops, etc., helpful to avoid that cabin fever craziness?

Nah, it’s just a well designed house for us. Jenna gets a bit of cabin fever if she stays too long but hikes are easy. I don’t mind spending lots of time in it
I live in MD and am thinking of building/buying a tiny home. Where I MD are you and are you in a tiny home village or mobile home park? Just really getting into the tiny home movement. – Kelly
